In looking to design an affordable piece of furniture, CNC technology was used to reduce the labor cost of the finished product, which was partly put back into shifting materials from plywood - a material synonymous with CNC-fabricated furniture - to timber. This investment increases perceived product value and greatly reduces embodied energy.

This chair features subtle detail to stimulate delight, enough to enable it to blend into the background of everyday life over the long term. This, combined with its smart use of technology to reduce cost and provide a more attractive product, is what makes it a good chair.
